Whilst lucky John was basking in the warmth of Australia, we were waiting in 6 degrees on Heathfield Estate for our monthly handicap. Considering it was not too cold and it wasn't raining either, it was surprising that only a select few turned out. At one stage there threatened to be more helpers than runners so after sorting start times with Jo Jo, I decided to run. Three runners braved it for the first time setting a personal goal for the new year. It was great to see Kelly and two of our older juniors; Reuben and Sam. Steve Davey set off 3 seconds behind Richard Harvey and after swapping positions several times Richard eventually got the better of Steve crossing the line first to become this month's victor and taking home the trophy. Next back was Graham followed by Rod and then Tim. Roland 'jogged round' to finish in under 19 minutes! I ran 9 seconds slower than last month but did manage to catch Clare who was next back and Katie who followed Clare. Reuben had a great first run to finish next but Sam struggled setting himself a real chance of winning next month! Thanks to Jo Jo, Steve Briggs, Bruce and Tony Peek for helping, supporting and holding coats (and providing Jelly Babies Jo Jo).
