Terrific turnout for The Blackdown Beast this year with lots doing it for the first time and getting their first taste of the delicious pasties and mulled cider at Smeatharpe, courtesy of the WI, and their first visit to the wonderful Luppitt Inn.
Please let us know how it went for you and link us in to any photos.

I am still very tired after seeing some fantastic views and have to admit it was tough but definitely worth it ... Mark Dallyn
Thank you for a brilliant day #Beast ... I jibbed at 10 miles but your all such a brilliant friendly group #funinthemud @spongbakes
Loved every minute of it, thanks to you all! Lynn Cunningham
My first time for the BlackDown Beast and after hearing what everyone at the club was saying i was beginning to wonder what i had let myself in for. Got to admit it was hard going under foot at times which seemed to sap energy quickly but I would defiantly consider doing the beast again. There was no way that all that brown liquid on the ground and in the fields was rain water, that's for sure ! ( hence throwing away my socks when i got home ) Running with a partner or as part of a group was a great way to enjoy the run too. Fantastic views, good laughs with a couple of slips and stumbles ( that was before the mulled cider & pasty ). We even managed to see a couple of deers run across the field in front of us. It was good to know that we weren’t the only ones to miss a gate or a turning ! We found route 4 was confusing coming out of the field with the caravan in, but to be honest, this was the only part that we struggled with. The stop at Luppit was interesting and it was nice to see the old lady, what a charming place to be found in the middle of no-where. Many thanks to everyone who help out setting it up, and to all involved on the day. ( thanks too for the good weather ) Great event – Tony Peek
