How will it work? The trophy will work like the Handicap Trophy. The lowest scorer wins At the end of a race handicap times will be added to race times. Using the combined time the runners (HRC only) will be put in a new finish order Points will be given according to order 1 for 1st, 2 for 2nd etc BUT like the handicap the points will be scaled as if there were 10 HRC runners were taking part. This is because coming first out of 20 runners should have fewer points than coming first out of 5 runners How many races and what types? Race list below To count for the trophy members must take part in a minimum of 4 road races (10K or HM) and 2 MT races 6 events in total is one every two months. The Race List below shows the 13 local (SW) road races and 11 local MT races that we will use – roughly 2 events a month. There needs to be a minimum of 5 HRC runners for an event to count in towards the trophy. The runners 4 lowest points for road and 2 lowest points for MT will be used to calculate the trophy winner and runner-up Where do the Handicap Times come from? From road race data over the last 3 years and MT data from last year – there is less road data than MT data If this data is lacking I have used our 5K handicap times to work out likely times This system is far from perfect and I will keep a close eye on results to make sure that someone is not getting an unfair advantage or disadvantage because their handicaps are too generous or too tough. Please check the list of Handicap Times Look at your projected times to see if they are reasonable. Also look at other runners who normally are close to you in races. If you are not on the list or there isn’t any data It is probably because you don’t normally take part in races or I haven’t got enough data yet or You are a new member BUT you can be quickly added in as soon as I have data from at least two events.
