Overview |
|
The Chairman is the Club’s “chief executive” and is accountable, with
the other officers, to the membership for the affairs of the Club.
|

Specific activities and jobs |
|
• Lead and manage each of the Committee roles.
• Encourage activities and projects.
• Manage, as Chairman, bi-monthly Committee meetings.
• Produce a Chairman’s Report for the Club A.G.M.
|
|
General duties and responsibilities |
|
• To ensure that the democratic process is maintained in the
organisation and development of the Club and its activities.
• To maintain a practical relationship with the club in its activities
(i.e. run regularly with the Club and interact with members).
• Oversee all Committee-based activity.
• Be aware of views, and of what is going on in the Club and of what is
happening in the governance of our sport generally. Where necessary,
initiate action, either alone or with other officers.
• Encourage those who are taking some responsibility for other Club
activity.
• Pick up and deal with issues that have fallen through the net. Mediate
or arbitrate in these issues.
• Give advice and support, where necessary.
• Currently maintain and develop the Club website and incorporate new
ideas to further develop the Club and its membership.
• To make a personal assessment of individual contributions to the Club
throughout the year to facilitate the presentation of the Chairman’s
“Good Egg” trophy at the A.G.M.
• To encourage and promote education of members in areas which will
benefit the Club, its members and the individual.
• To be increasingly involved with the administrative position of the
Club and how it should be managed. He will liaise with the President and
Club officials as appropriate.
• To regularly review the input for the running calendar.
• To oversee the Committee meeting cycle.
• To chair meetings of the Committee. |
| In addition to regular reports, the broad areas of Committee activity
are to: |

• Respond to the Committee external events or requests.
• Initiate and monitor new activity.
• In case of the former, the Chairman should ensure decisions are based
on all necessary information and further consultation, if required. For
the latter, the Chairman should ensure responsibilities are clearly
allocated and targets are set for the delivery of new courses of action
agreed by the Committee.
• Review annually all main matters.
• As a new proposal to set up and review risk assessments (operational
risks which might affect the Club).
